Why choose Poly Tanks instead of Steel?

• Poly tanks are made from polyethylene, a food grade plastic. Steel tanks on the other hand are Galvanized (coated Zincalume a combination of aluminium, zinc and silicone or a variant of Zincalume known as Colorbond). Poly water tanks come in various sizes and are more versatile then the steel water tanks.

• Poly water tanks are extremely light weight and mobile, they are up to 50 x lighter than steel water tanks. Steel tanks often require a crane to move them.

• Both poly water tanks and steel water tanks come in various sizes the choice and capacities there are many more options in poly water tanks.

• Steel tanks can store more than 50,000 litres of water, Poly water tanks reach there limit at 50,000 litres. So if you have massive requirements you need to opt for a steel tank or two poly water tanks.

• Poly water tanks are UV stabilised and will not rust or corrode. Steel tanks even though galvanised will corrode over time.

• Steel tanks are not as easy to install as Poly Water tanks. Delivery charges for steel water tanks can be quite expensive compared to Poly tanks.

• Poly water tanks can be placed on sand or pavement which is fairly simple, while steel tanks require rings and a rock or concrete base to keep them away from water. This is to stabilise the much heaver Steel tank and to prolong is life by avoiding corrosion.
